Cardiff High School values the rich learning experiences that tightly integrated interactions with technology brings. The promotion and advancement of this integration is core to the school's educational philosophies. Our aim is to equip students with the skills that are needed to be citizens and thinkers of the future. By facilitating bring your own device (BYOD), Cardiff High School empowers its students and gives them direct involvement in the way they use their personal device in the classroom to enhance learning.
Our BYOD program is open to all students.
We strongly encourage students in the Year 7 Enrichment class (7L) and senior students (Year 11 and 12) to participate in the BYOD program.
Every classroom and learning space within the school is equipped with the Department of Education's Enterprise Wireless System. This allows students and staff to access filtered online resources within any learning area.
To allow for flexibility, we do not stipulate a particular device. Instead, parents can choose a device that suits their budget, student needs, and retailer of their choice.
Due to the DoE Enterprise Wireless System, not all BYOD devices are compatible. For devices to connect to our wireless and internet they need to be 802.11ac compatible. We have created a couple of handy documents to help parents decide on the right device for their child and what software is available for free.
Students requiring assistance connecting their BYOD device at school, should see the Tech Support Counter in the Library building (D Block).
