Transitioning to High School
Going to high school is a new, exciting and sometimes a little intimidating experience for Year 6 student as our school is a lot bigger than primary school. Instead of being a senior in a small school, they are now a beginner in a big school. It is an exciting time with many opportunities and a broader curriculum.
To help students accumulate to high school, Cardiff High School runs a series of transition events for both students and parents throughout the year. They include our staff visiting the Cardiff Community of Schools and teaching lessons in the primary school classrooms; Mini lessons at the high school where students experience first-hand some of our subjects and parent information evenings.
For more information on our transition dates for 2025 view Cardiff High School Transition Calendar.

Middle School Program Program 2025
Cardiff High School offers a unique supported transition opportunity for nominated Year 7 students. Our program follows a middle school philosophy through which it meets the needs of students who would benefit from a more structured, strength-focused class provided by one core teacher for a number of key learning areas in a homeroom learning environment.
The philosophy of the Middle School Program is driven by high expectations, authentic relationships with students and parents/carers and individualised student strength-based teaching and learning. All students in the Middle School Program are individually case-managed by Middle School staff to allow for effective academic and wellbeing support. Students involved in the program will stay in this class for Year 7.
The CHS Middle School Program and Application Pack will be available soon.
