The PHM/PHL app is one of the ways CHS is strengthening its approaches to student wellbeing, academic engagement, and positive behaviour.
We recognise that when children experience negative peer interactions, anti-social behaviour, or are generally struggling they are reluctant to tell staff members and sometimes parents.
This digital platform allows students to raise awareness by creating a notification which sends a report to a teacher about their wellbeing and academic engagement confidentially. It allows teachers to get to the root cause of an issue in its infancy, through interaction rather than intervention. Notifications and reports will be monitored by our Deputy Principal, who is responsible for overseeing and improving the wellbeing and educational program for Year 7 & SOAR Learning Centre students.
We are running this priority project in partnership with local/national company Program Health Monitoring (PHM). PHM already have a presence within our local education system, and throughout the industry and sporting sectors. Throughout these sectors, PHM focus on improving the wellbeing and performance for all individuals. Visit the PHM website for more information here: https://projecthealthmonitoring.com.au/education/. Students can access the platform from: https://phlevel.app
We believe that this additional platform, which is specific for education has significant potential to improve outcomes for our young people.
How does it work:
Students will be able to access the digital platform via their Chromebook through a secure username and password, which provides a two-factor authentication process. In addition to this for added security, the database does not contain any usernames, so personal data cannot be linked to any student.
Students can then raise a notification/report regarding their wellbeing and academic engagement.
How often will my child use the platform
Most children will only use this platform weekly or when they feel they need to.
How long does it take to complete
It will take anywhere from 15 - 45 seconds to complete their login, and if required register their wellbeing issue.
What happens when a report is made
Our dedicated staff member will interact with the child and family where necessary and manage the wellbeing issue.
Will parents be informed
Yes, when necessary, parents will be contacted regarding the wellbeing issues of the child no different to our current practices.
Does my child have to participate
No, parents will give permission for their child to have access to this wellbeing platform.
Is there a cost
No. As a school we will be covering the cost of the initial program before we consider this as a wider school pilot program. Should it prove successful there may be a small cost associated in the future.
