Mobile phones are now banned in all NSW public schools
Cardiff High School has introduced a strict gate-to-gate policy. Students, whose parents/caregivers allow them to bring their phone to school must ensure it is switched off (not on silent) and secured in their backpack. Students are not allowed to use their phones at any stage throughout the school day, including recess and lunch.
If a student is caught using their phone during school hours, they will be required to surrender their phone to the front office. Their phone will be secured for the remainder of the day, and parents informed. Repeated breaches of the NSW school phone ban will result in a progression to suspension from school.
Students with special needs, including medical and learning needs, may apply for an exemption. These will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
To request an exemption please complete the application form and provide grounds and/or documentation. The School’s Senior Executive team will manage requests for exemption and parent interviews. Exemptions will be granted in consultation with teachers, students and families.
