Sport Term 1 2020

Term 1 2020 Sports

During Term 1, students in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 have the opportunity to participate in recreational activities for Sport on Wednesday afternoons. Sport activities will run from Wednesday 5 February (Week 2, Term 1) until Wednesday 8 April (Week 11, Term 4) inclusive – this is a total of 10 weeks. Please note attendance and participation in sport are a compulsory requirement of the NSW Department of Education.

Year 7 2020

Year 7 2020 students will be participating in a school based sport and getting to know you activities Week 1 2020.

From Week 2 onwards they will participate in the mandatory aquatics program at various venues.

A copy of the permission note will be available soon.

Years 8, 9 and 10 2019

Students will select their Term 1 2020 sport during classtime in Week 7 Term 4, 2019. Following this, a permission note will be sent home with students outlining the sport they have chosen and the costs involved. The permission note and any payment due must be returned by Friday 13 December.

Any student who has not submitted their permission note will be placed on Sports Detention until it is returned.


Sports with a weekly venue fee require students to pay the weekly fee in cash at the venue.


Barre Attack - School Grounds

Barre Attack is a dynamic fusion of Pilates, Dance and Fitness, providing a fun full body workout to strengthen core and improve flexibility. Comprised of a resistance and cardio workout utilising resistance bands and tone balls to lengthen and balance the body. Barre Attack is a low impact, high intensity workout accessible for everybody and all levels of fitness.

Beach Sports - Nobbys Beach

Under the summer sun and on the golden sand, students will participate in various sports such as beach volleyball, cricket, touch football, soccer, ultimate frisbee and capture the flag. Protective clothing and sunscreen are highly recommended.

Ice Skating (Year 9 & 10 Only) - Hunter Ice Skating Stadium, Warners Bay

Students from Year 9 and 10 will utilise the ice rink to develop skills on the ice including coordination and balance. Rental skates are included; however, students can use personal skates.
Cost: $50 Bus fare per term + $8 per week. Total Cost: $130

Indoor Soccer - Newcastle Indoor Sports, Warners Bay

Students will utilise an enclosed modified soccer field to participate in small modified soccer games. Emphasis on improving control, passing and teamwork create a supportive environment for students to improve their skills.

Laser Tag - Red Alert Laser Tag, Warners Bay

Students will participate in the ultimate laser skirmish game. A variety of game modes creates interesting gameplay. Students improve their teamwork skills as they address a common goal.

Rock Climbing - Pulse Rock Climbing, Warners Bay

Students will develop skills for bouldering with the assistance of instructors. The venue caters to all skill levels from beginners just starting out, to elite climbers looking to improve their ability. 
Cost: $50 Bus fare per term paid upfront + $10 per week at venue. Total Cost: $150

School Sport Rotations - School Grounds

Students will be placed into groups and rotate between various school based sports such as soccer, touch football, AFL, netball, basketball, volleyball, softball and table tennis.

Swimming and Bronze Medallion - Newcastle Ocean Baths

Who doesn’t love swimming in the ocean baths? Students will spend the first two weeks obtaining their Bronze Medallion. The course will enhance students' personal survival skills while providing them with the knowledge and skills to develop the level of judgement, technique and physical ability required to safely carry out water rescues. Once completed, students will be allowed to swim in the ocean baths.
Cost: $50 Bus fare per term + $45 for Bronze Medallion Course.

Tennis - Lake Macquarie Tennis Centre, Cardiff

After walking from Cardiff High School to Lake Macquarie Tennis Courts, students will participate in minor tennis games to develop and learn tennis skills and rules.
Cost: $5 per week at venue. Total Cost: $50

Ten Pin Bowling - Dullboy's Social Co, Warners Bay

Ten Pin bowling, the sport of champions, and the only one that forces you to wear funny shoes. Students will participate in group games playing ten rounds and developing skills of coordination, accuracy and persistence.

Trampoline and Gymnastics - Hunter Sports Centre, Glendale

Students will be coached by Australian Competition Trampoline and Gymnastics coaches in Trampoline, Double Mini Trampoline, Tumbling and Gymnastics. This sport will have a focus on learning skills and routines and should be selected by any student wishing to improve their trampoline skills. Students will have access to Olympic trampolines, pit trampolines and competition quality equipment.

Walking - Cardiff and surrounding suburbs

Students will walk as a group around the Cardiff suburbs on courses set by teachers and Sport Organiser.

Weights and Fitness - Genetics, Warners Bay

With the assistance of qualified staff and instructors, students will operate gym equipment and utilise a basic program to work through and improve overall fitness. Minimum age 14
